Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara: Learn Life

Zoya Akhtar who made a delightful debut with “Luck By Chance” is now back answering two most important questions for anyone:
1. What is Life?

2. What is the essence of living?

Zoya tends to answer these tough questions in one simple answer.

LIFE MEANS LIVING! This simple answer finds its echo in each and every thing about her latest offering “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”. Zoya understands that man, in the day-to-day routine of doing mundane things, has forgot to LIVE. And she with the help of her three protagonists, Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay, has driven her message through very adventurous sports and makes the meaning of LIFE to be very endearing and elevating. Zoya tells emphatically, LET YOUR FEARS GO AND LIVE EMPHATICALLY. Kudos!

Coming to the story part of ZNMD, Arjun (Hrithik), Imraan (Farhan) and Kabir (Abhay), all childhood friends, embark on a road trip through the countryside of Spain choosing to do three adventure sports of each one’s choice. And through their journey they find the real meaning of their lives and let go of their worst fears.

Arjun who cares just for money and rates it more important than relations, finds a soulmate in Laila (Katrina Kaif). Slowly but steadily Laila changes his outlook towards life and makes him realise that money does not matter as long as he is living.

Imraan, a funny man in a situation of an identity crisis as he has recently stumbled upon a news that he is the son of a man who never raised him nor seen him. He faces what the reality is as the same man resides in Spain and takes a chance to meet him.

Kabir, a would-be husband to Natasha (Kalki) is really in confusion on whether he is ready for marriage or not. He unites with his friends and takes his own situation head on.

The performances of the lead cast have managed to grab the attention and through the paces of the film the audience get to feel that they are the fourth friends of this trio. Unconsciously we fall in friendship with them and we feel that it is really happening between us as we share the troubles and fun of them. Such is their performance that at nowhere we can notice that these actors were being directed. They just lived their roles and exceeded.

The technical departments have done an exemplary job and provided a visual feast of sorts. The camera department has to take a great share of appreciation as they have given a feel which is virtually inside the characters. A great job.

Music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy has the international feel and they managed to rub in that exhilatered feel to the movie.

Finally, in a word Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara justifies its title and go immediately to the theater which is playing it. You might just understand yourself.

Krishna Chaitanya.
