Unfair Nandi Awards?

The Nandi Awards committee has done it again. The Nandi Awards-2009 for which winners have been announced yesterday have put portrayed the Telugu film industry as a divided house. The winners chosen by the committee (not all but few of them) are being ridiculed and one person is seen as the center of it all and he is none other than Dasari Narayana Rao.
The acclaimed director-actor was chosen as the Best Actor for his role in a political movie, Mesthry. The movie in particular was made to belittle the efforts of Chiranjeevi in his nascent political career and was aimed to model public opinion against the Megastar. The film was released during the elections time in 2009 and sank without a trace. The film was not favored by the audience and was rejected. But with Dasari now getting an award for Best Actor in that movie brings forward the differences within the film industry.
Some in the Industry feel that the Dasari camp had bargained hard with the jury for an award to Dasari Narayana Rao and snub Chiru camp. That the Award Committee succumbed to the political pressure shows other Award winners in a poor light. It seems that the committee tried to balance its decision by awarding 9 Nandi Awards to “Magadheera” which had Chiranjeevi’s son, Ram Charan as the hero in it, but the damage was already done when Dasari was announced the winner for Mesthry.
Though most of the other winners like, Teertha, SS Rajamouli and others are worthwhile for their performances, the choice of Dasari Narayana Rao for the coveted award is a unwise decision on part of the committee and has put entire selection process under controversy.
