BOUNDARIES FOR ART

ART KNOWS NO BOUNDARIES

ONLY SKY IS THE LIMIT FOR AN ARTIST

These are the commonly stated words which are chosen to describe any artist by the connoiseurs. Any artist or any literary person would like everyone to enjoy his work and therein lies his success. Any Artist’s ultimate goal or aim would be to find UNIVERSAL ACCEPTANCE of his art. But there are few individuals who wish to restrict a legendary personality’s work and fame to their region only for hatred on artists of another region.
I never expected such thing to happen to a literary giant such as “Vanamamalai Varadachary” who is often called as one of the best in Telugu Literature. Late Varadachary was branded as a “Telengana Rathnam” during a function conducted to celebrate his birth anniversary.
Some individuals who have formed as a society in the Legend’s honour in order to celebrate his birth anniversary have infact degraded the deceased man’s greatness. Some of the orators who were speaking on the occassion lamented that Late Varadachary was not conferred with much greatness as he belonged to Telengana region of Andhra Pradesh and because of that he was not given his due recognition. The speakers at the occassion said that they would strive hard to celebrate the Centenary celebrations of Late Varadachary throughout the Telengana region.
The event continued for a while and finally there was some sanity when an IAS officer counseled the gathering and said that an ARTIST belonged to everyone and binding him in the throes of regions is sad and unwarranted. The organisers saw some merit in the counsel of that IAS officer and had accepted his argument. Some sanity prevailed finally to the relief of many in the audience.
The more I listened to the hatred these speakers spew, the more I was convinced that no matter how big the literary personality be, the people surrounding him tend to drag his greatness down and bind him in the divisions of their own divides.
May the divides of the hearts based on region, caste, creed, religion be a thing of passe and let the concept of UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD prevail in the minds and hearts of all of humanity.
