The last HEROES of Indian Cinema

The world is fascinated by the word CINEMA. In fact, it would be right to say that Cinema has influence the world like no other entertainment medium all through the times. The beauty of the heroines, the valor of the heroes, the larger than life stories, etc, etc have created a lasting impression in the minds of the audience. It is not just cinema, the world is fascinated with but those who are related to it are also revered by the people and are adulated with respect and awe. The lives of famous actors and actresses have always caught the fancy of the audience and they are made out to be a bigger and better characters than what they portray on screen.
When it comes to Indian Cinema, the larger than life heroes have always caught the fancy of the audience. These HEROES are always treated as HEROES and not ACTORS, even in real life. But, I fear that the last of these kind of HEROES have passed their prime and no one can ever match their charm in the coming year. The reason?

The stories which are coming on screen in various languages can be said as the reason for this emerging trend. The HEROES of yore, NTR, MGR, Raj Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth, Chiranjeevi have all gained stardom due to the roles they played on screen. These heroes had always represented the angst of the common man of that particular era and echoed their feelings. These HEROES portrayed roles which challenged the system, which exposed the rot set in the system and emerged as winners in the end. A winner is always revered in real life.
These actors have carried their charm into their real lives when stories of their charity works came around. But I fear that Chiranjeevi and Rajnikanth might be the last of those kind as the trends of cinema have changed a lot. Today’s hero is besotted with his personal problems rather than of the society.
The Hero of today is just entertaining the audience but not representing their feelings and emotions. And unless that happens, there can no more be a HERO who can claim that he is a HERO of the people.
But is there any director and writer willing to write those kind of stories and make a HERO out of the current lot? I wonder if any one can
Cheers and Love,

  1. y not if a master STORYTELLER like u convince young heroes

  2. Vatsy,

Ur suggestion is very hypothetical. IF only our young heroes were as down to earth as their seniors….

  3. the probable reason for that might be that the standards senior heroes have set….they are in hot pursuit of instant stardom…….may be common man stories might find wavelength with somebody like say….nikhil…who doesn't have background……..people with background have fans even before their births!!!

  4. Vatsy,

Your end comment is a nice one…Having fans even before birth…Hahah
