New year 2010 has started and it has brought with it the season of expectations. There are many expectations for each and everyone this year. But like every new year, this year might be a dampener of sorts as it starts on a very grim note and is expected to throw up disappointment rather than joy.
But why am I talking all that philosophical rants when I wish to talk about some movies? Okay! Let me go to the gossiping part.
New year’s day and a Friday do not come all too often. And it was the reason for Bollywood to celebrate. And celebrate they did, with three releases. Bolo Raam, Raat Gayi Baat Gayi and Accident on Hill Road are the three movies which have hit the marquee.
Talking about Bolo Raam, the most interesting part of the film is that it marks the return of erstwhile heroine, Padmini Kolhapuri in a pivotal role of hero’s mother. Well the graceful heroine of yesteryear’s has come around finally. Hopefully she would find her audience yet again. BTW, this film is a remake of a Tamil hit, Raam, which was a psychological thriller.
The second movie is Saurabh Shukla’s directorial venture, Raat Gayi Baat Gayi. This film is said to be a multiplex fare with lead actors such as Ranvir Shorey, Rajat Kapoor and Neha Dhupia. This is said to be a proper adult comedy which is a rarity in Bollywood (Or is it the other way around). But I always wonder why Neha Dhupia limits herself to such low budget fares? She has a great figure and appropriate acting skills. Why limit herself?
The third movie this week is Accident on Hill Road with another hottie, Celina Jaitley playing the lead role. Veteran actor Farooque Shaikh returns to silver screen with this film. Hope Celina scores at least with this supposedly thriller.
But I am disappointed in a way that there was no telugu release today owing to the current political turmoil in the region (More on that topic tomorrow).
So folks, the entertainment platter is full with new flicks and some old flicks still ruling the roost (read 3 Idiots and Avatar). Pick your choice and go ahead and pray that your new year is great and as entertaining.
P.S. Do not blame me if you are disappointed with any of these flicks.
Cheers and Love,
